The FPI dashboard provides a snapshot of facilities needing decommissioning or significant refurbishment, serving as a vital tool for the infrastructure planning team to make informed asset management decisions. Government infrastructure assets should strive for an A1–B2 Functional Performance Index (FPI) rating, as stated in the National Department of Public Works’ User Asset Management Plan (UAMP). An A1 rating indicates optimal performance and suitability, while lower ratings suggest reduced reliability, possibly leading to asset surrender or disposal.

The FPI is determined by three critical factors:
